Over RM900mil in contraband seized in Bukit Aman ops from Jan to Nov


PETALING JAYA: More than RM900mil worth of contraband has been seized in Bukit Aman anti-smuggling operations this year.

The Internal Security and Public Order Department conducted 7,033 seizures and operations from Jan 1 to Nov 30, its director Comm Datuk Seri Hazani Ghazali said in a statement on Friday (Dec 1).

These led to 5,099 arrests and seizures worth RM920,047,558.70, he added.

"The department remains committed and focused in the fight against the smuggling of goods, the (pilfering) of controlled and subsidised items, and the protection of the country's treasures in order to preserve public security and safeguard the country's assets," he said.
