State assembly congratulates Johor Ruler on being named next King

ISKANDAR PUTERI: The Johor state assembly believes that state Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar will be able to lead Malaysia towards a more developed and united nation as the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

State speaker Datuk Dr Puad Zarkashi, on behalf of the state legislative assembly, congratulated His Majesty after he was named the next King.

“As the core of the country’s constitutional monarchy, we have confidence in His Majesty’s leadership in bringing Malaysia forward,” Puad said during the opening of the state assembly sitting at Kota Iskandar here on Thursday (Nov 23).

The Conference of Rulers, at its Special 263rd Meeting on Oct 27, elected Sultan Ibrahim as the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong for a five-year term, effective Jan 31, 2024.

Sultan Ibrahim will replace Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah whose reign will end on Jan 30 next year.

Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi also congratulated Sultan Ibrahim, who was unanimously elected to become the next king of Malaysia.

“Thank you for all the advice and guidance given to Johor to help us achieve the Maju Johor 2030 agenda.

“Thank you to Tunku Makhkota Johor Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim who has been offering us motivation and inspiration to develop the state,” he added.

In view of Johor Darul Ta’zim football club’s positive performance in the football arena, Onn Hafiz also highlighted their 10th consecutive win of the Super League title.

The Johor state assembly sitting, which kicks off with the presentation of the 2024 budget, will run for seven days.
