Shanghai businessmen keen on Sabah's MM2H programme, says Liew

KOTA KINABALU: Shanghai based businesses are keen to invest in the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme in Sabah, says state Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Christina Liew.

Dresser Wayne Fuel Equipment (Shanghai) Co. Ltd said it was also looking at solar energy investment and bird's nest production in Sabah.

The company representatives Sun Hai Zhen and Ralph Fan said this to Liew during a courtesy call here.

Liew said that the state government is an investor-friendly government and welcomes viable investments which bring economic benefits to Sabah and generate job opportunities for the people.

"We will do everything possible to ensure a conducive business environment," she said, adding that the state government would look at their business proposals for consideration.

Liew said the Shanghai businessmen had sought her advice on securing support from the Sabah government for their business investment proposals.

Local businessman Johnny Ong Tek Kin, who is Dinawa Island Sdn Bhd director, said he was upbeat about bringing in investors from China who are eyeing the tourism sector in Sabah and looking at the possibility of building future resorts in the state.

"Following the reopening of international borders, we have received a lot of inquiries from Chinese nationals who wish to participate in the Sabah-MM2H Programme.

"On our side, we are working on packaging Sabah properties to be incorporated into the programme," Ong said.
