KOTA KINABALU: A senior citizen was pinned under his four-wheel drive vehicle while loading items into it in Ranau district, about 110km from here, early Wednesday (Nov 22).

A Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said they were alerted to the incident at Kampung Kimolohing at 5.46am.

“We were informed that the 68-year-old victim was loading items into the vehicle when it suddenly moved, pinning him beneath it," he said when contacted.

The spokesman said firemen helped free the man using a special airbag to lift the vehicle.

“The man was given initial treatment on the spot before being rushed to the district hospital by our Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit,” he added.

The operation ended at 7.10am, the spokesman added.
