Cops cut electricity of six illegal gambling joints in Kota Tinggi

KOTA TINGGI: Electric supply to six illegal gambling premises here has been cut off on Tuesday (Nov 14) between 10am and 1pm.

Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Hussin Zamora said the power supply was disconnected following an operation by the police and Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) Kota Tinggi branch.

"The power cut was done under Ops Pemotongan Elektrik Bersepadu under Section 21A of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953 which made illegal common gaming houses, public gaming, and public lotteries," he said in a statement.

Supt Hussin added the illegal gambling premises had businesses such as sundry stores, mini markets, telecommunication and coffee shops as a front to avoid detection.

He urged those with information on illegal gambling activities in their areas to channel their information to the nearest police station.
