EATERIES providing Menu Rahmah will be provided cards to buy groceries at discounted prices to help them continue to deliver budget meals, says Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali.
“We will offer discount cards for Rahmah restaurant and cafe operators as an incentive for them to support the government’s initiatives starting on Nov 1,” said the acting Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister.
Card holders would be able to buy discounted groceries at six selected supermarkets, he said in his ministry’s reply to Budget 2024.
Before he began his speech, Armizan paid tribute to his predecessor, the late Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub, who started the Payung Rahmah initiative, which includes affordable meals and discounted sales aimed at low income households.
“Although I am helming this responsibility temporarily, I have big shoes to fill,” he said.
