Body of elderly croc attack victim in Betong found


SIBU: The body of an elderly man who was attacked by a crocodile in Betong has been found on Sunday (Oct 15).

Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department in its daily update said that the body of Chaong Baringai, 67, was found at 8.40am about 10m from the spot where he was attacked by a crocodile.

"His body was found with bite wounds on his neck and head," it added.

At about 10.30am on Saturday (Oct 14), Betong station received a call from the police concerning a man who was dragged into the river.

"The victim was filling his pesticide spray tank with water at the river when a crocodile attacked him," the department said.

His wife who saw the incident informed the villagers who later went out to search for him.
