Man's attempt to rape student in Kudat foiled


KOTA KINABALU: A man who attempted to rape a student in a roadside bush has been apprehended by the public in Sabah's northern Kudat district on.

It was learned that passers-by stopped the suspect, in his 30s, at about 6am on Monday (Oct 9).

Kudat police chief Supt Mohd Haris Ibrahim said they were alerted to the matter at 7.05am.

"We detained the suspect after he was handed over by the public.

"The case is being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code," he said.

Supt Mohd Haris thanked the people for helping to nab the suspect.

He also advised the public not to share details of the case on social media as it could cause public alarm.

"Leave it to the police to investigate," he said.
