Four nabbed in Penampang with drug-laced vape liquid

KOTA KINABALU: Four local men have been arrested on suspicion of distributing vape liquid laced with drugs in Penampang and Putatan near here.

The suspects, aged between 22 and 31, were detained during three raids on Tuesday and Wednesday (Oct 3 and 4).

Penampang district police chief Supt Sammy Newton said anti-narcotics personnel also seized 31 bottles containing ganja-laced vape liquid worth some RM5,600 in the operation.

He said police first stormed a house at Jalan Bundusan in Penampang at 10pm and detained the first suspect.

A check of the 22-year-old suspect found a plastic bottle containing what was believed to be drug-laced vape liquid.

"Information from questioning him led us to another residence in the same housing area where we apprehended two men aged 29 and 31.

"We found in their possession four boxes containing bottles of drug vape liquid," Supt Newton told a press conference on Friday (Oct 6).

He said the fourth suspect was nabbed at Kampung Dumpil in Putatan at 12.05am on Wednesday.

Police seized five more boxes containing the same type of liquid from the suspect, he added.

"A further check on his house in Putatan found a big box containing 21 bottles of the vape liquid.

"All four suspects tested positive for ganja,” Supt Newton added.

One suspect was also found to have six previous drug-related offences.
