Fast lane along Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway to be closed

GEORGE TOWN: Fast lanes on Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway at The Light Waterfront will be closed to make way for the construction of an interchange.

In a statement by developer IJM Land, it said the fast lanes in each direction bound for George Town and Bayan Lepas will be closed and diverted from Oct 15 to March 31 next year.

"This is necessary to facilitate construction works on the median of the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway for The Light interchange.

"The said works include road widening and construction of new elevated ramps connecting The Light Waterfront Penang and widening of Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway.

"These upgrades will significantly benefit the public by strengthening the current infrastructure.

"IJM Land is committed to minimising construction-related disruptions to the public by implementing a comprehensive traffic management plan throughout the construction period.

We urge road users to exercise caution when approaching the work area and apologise for any inconvenience caused," said the statement issued on Wednesday (Oct 4).
