Man killed in car-lorry accident near Mersing


MERSING: A 44-year-old man was killed after his car collided with a lorry at KM13 Jalan Kota Tinggi–Mersing here.

Mersing Deputy OCPD DSP Sharif Shai Sharif Mondoi said that the incident occurred on Sunday (Oct 1) at 11pm when the victim was heading towards Mersing.

“Investigations revealed that a 36-year-old man was driving a lorry from Mersing towards Kota Tinggi when he suddenly lost control of his vehicle and entered the opposite lane,” he said.

“The lorry then rammed into a vehicle driven by the victim and another vehicle behind it,” added DSP Sharif in a statement here on Tuesday (Oct 3).

The victim suffered a serious injury to the head and was pronounced dead at the location, while the lorry driver suffered an injury to his arm and is being treated at the Mersing Hospital.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road and Transport Act of 1987.
