Woman driving against traffic hit a car in Penang, both drivers injured


GEORGE TOWN: A woman driving against traffic flow collided with another vehicle on Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway.

The woman had injuries on her chest and was receiving treatment at a private hospital, while the male driver of the other car suffered injuries to his abdomen and was sent to the Penang Hospital.

George Town OCPD Asst Comm Soffian Santong said in the 12.30am incident on Monday (Oct 2), the woman was heading towards the Penang Bridge from the city centre.

“She was driving against traffic flow and collided with the car driven by the man, who was heading to Taman Kristal in Mount Erskine," he said in a statement.

He said police have yet to take statements from both drivers.

The case is investigated under Section 42 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Police urged eyewitnesses or those with information to contact George Town traffic enforcement investigating officer Insp Mohd Azli Khairil Mat Lazin at 019-594 6806 or any police station.
