No urgent need for Cabinet reshuffle, says Anwar

PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said his visit to Istana Negara on Friday (Sept 29) morning “was a routine weekly post-Cabinet briefing".

Asked if his weekly audience with Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah touched on the Cabinet reshuffle, he said it was just a weekly audience he usually had with His Majesty, reported Bernama.

"Perhaps I'll think about it later. There is no urgent need because there is only one vacancy,” said the Prime Minister.

He was referring to the post of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister, a portfolio previously held by Amanah’s Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub, who passed away in July due to a brain haemorrhage.

Earlier this morning, Anwar was seen entering Istana Negara, intensifying talk of a Cabinet reshuffle.

Anwar was spotted entering the palace gate with his entourage at about 10.45am.

The Prime Minister usually has an audience with the King on Wednesdays before the weekly Cabinet meeting and therefore his audience on Friday was being closely watched.
