Driver burnt to death in road accident near Jeram Toi recreational forest

SEREMBAN: A driver was burnt to death after his car was engulfed by flames following an accident along Jalan Bukit Tangga near here.

A Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said the victim's vehicle was hit by a lorry near the Jeram Toi recreational forest around 9.30am on Tuesday (Sept 26).

"The huge impact has caused both vehicles to be dragged on the road and came to a stop in a 6m-deep ditch," he said.

Based on preliminary investigation, he said the lorry driver had lost control of the vehicle while heading towards Jelebu from here.

The lorry driver, who sustained serious injuries, has been rushed to the Tuanku Ja'afar Hospital for treatment, he added.

He said firemen removed the charred remains of the victim from the car wreckage around noon.

Acting Jelebu police chief Asst Supt Goh Kay Lun said police are trying to track down the identity of the car driver.

"We are checking the vehicle's chassis number to get the owner and only then can we establish the victim’s identity," he added.
