GEORGE TOWN: A 27-year-old man cheated death after a tree fell on his car at Gunung Jerai on Monday (Sept 25).

Guar Chempedak Fire and Rescue Department officer Sharifuddin Yaakob said the department received information from the public on the incident at about 7pm Monday.

"We received information that a tree had fallen on a car, and a victim was trapped in the vehicle.

"However, the victim managed to haul himself out of the car before the rescue team arrived," he said.

Sharifudin said the victim suffered leg injuries and was sent to Yan Hospital for further treatment.

Work to clear the road was then carried out by the firemen.
