Drunken Nepalese men nabbed for smashing Taman Melawati shop window

AMPANG: Two Nepalese men were detained for breaking a shop's window in Taman Melawati while intoxicated.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Azam Ismail said the shop's 33-year-old manager discovered the broken window when he arrived at the shop at about 8.30am on Friday (Sept 1).

"A check on the CCTV revealed that two men, believed to have been drunk, had punched the window four times until it broke on Wednesday (Aug 30).

"They then fled the scene," he said when contacted on Saturday (Sept 2).

Investigation led police to arrest two Nepalese men, aged 21 and 22 at a mall in Taman Melawati at about 2pm on Friday.

"Both of them worked as shop assistants at the mall.

"The suspects did not have any prior criminal records and they tested negative for drugs," he added.

ACP Mohd Azam said the incident occurred, as both men were drunk after a drinking session.

"Both men have been remanded and we are investigating under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief.

"We will take stern action against anyone who breaks the law," he said.
