Housewife dies after breast enhancement procedure goes wrong

JOHOR BARU: A 29-year-old housewife has died after allegedly undergoing a breast enhancement procedure at a residential area in Skudai here.

The woman, identified as Tan Wei Shan, was said to have undergone the procedure at a double-storey house in Taman Mutiara Rini, Skudai on July 29 evening.

Her husband, a 35-year-old businessman who only wanted to be known as Wong, said his wife began feeling dizzy and unwell upon returning home.

“She complained of pain and swelling on her chest. The following afternoon (July 30), my wife sought help at a clinic, and was subsequently rushed to a private hospital for medical treatment at around 7pm.

“She passed away at around 7am last Wednesday (Aug 2),” he said, adding that she left behind two children aged nine and 12.

Wong said initially, Tan wanted to get a facelift, and got to know the beautician through a friend.

“Throughout their four months of conversation, the beautician never told my wife that she was unlicensed.

"So when she convinced my wife to get a breast enhancement, she agreed to it.

“However, my wife later changed her mind (about the breast enhancement) as she was worried about the procedure but the beautician told her that the procedure must go on as she had already purchased the equipment,” he claimed.

Tan was laid to rest on Sunday (Aug 6).

When contacted, Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm Rahmat Ariffin said police were aware of the case and a statement would be released soon.
