Several roads to be closed on nomination day

KUALA LUMPUR: Several roads in the Klang Valley will be closed to accommodate the nomination process for the state elections tomorrow.

In Ampang, the closure of certain routes to two nomination centres will start from 7am, to allow for the nomination of candidates for Bukit Antarabangsa, Lembah Jaya, Pandan Indah and Teratai.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Azam Ismail said the roads would be closed until the nomination was concluded.

“Nomination will be conducted at Dewan Dato Ahmad Razali and traffic diversion and filtering of vehicles will be carried out at the Taman Dagang traffic lights from the direction of Kuala Lumpur,” he said.

Vehicles from Kuala Lumpur heading towards Lembah Jaya would be instead diverted to Jalan Merbau-Jalan Pinang-Jalan Ampang, he said.

“Vehicles coming from the direction of Lembah Jaya towards Kuala Lumpur will be diverted at Jalan Wawasan-Jalan Merdeka-Jalan Ampang,” he said.

ACP Mohd Azam said for routes near the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council hall at Jalan Pandan Ilmu, vehicles from Jalan Pandan Utama towards Jalan Bunga Raya would be diverted at Jalan Pandan Aman-Jalan Mawar-Jalan Bunga Raya.

“The road from Jalan Bunga Raya towards Jalan Pandan Utama will be closed fully, so those intending to head to Jalan Pandan Utama can use the route of Jalan Bunga Mawar-Jalan Pandan Aman-Jalan Pandan Ilmu.

“Those with enquiries can contact the Ampang Jaya police headquarters traffic hotline at 03-9274 0112,” he said.

Several roads in Hulu Langat, Semenyih, Kajang and Bangi will also be temporarily closed to ensure a smooth nomination day.

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zaid Hassan said the nomination for Dusun Tua would be held at Dewan Al-Zamakhsyari Sekolah Agama Menengah Batu 10 Cheras, Hulu Langat.

“The Semenyih nomination will be at Kajang Municipal Council (MPKJ) complex in Setia Ecohill Semenyih.

In the case for Semenyih, Jalan Ecohill 1 – starting from Persiaran Ecohill Timur until Jalan Ecohill 1 roundabout – will be partially closed and one side will be used for two-way traffic.
