Perikatan Nasional unveils candidates for Kelantan polls


KOTA BARU: Perikatan Nasional is set to contest at all 45 state seats in the Kelantan state legislative assembly with Pas having the most candidates.

When making the announcement on Thursday (July 27) night, Kelantan Perikatan chairman Datuk Ahmad Yakob said Pas would field 39 candidates.

As for Bersatu, the Kelantan Mentri Besar said the party was set to contest at six seats.

The seats Pas would be contesting at were Pengkalan Kubor, Kelaboran, Pasir Pekan, Wakaf Bharu, Kijang, Chempaka, Panchor, Tanjong Mas, Kota Lama, Bunut Payong, Tendong, Pengkalan Pasir, Meranti, Chetok, Gual Periok, Apam Putra, Salor, Pasir Tumboh, Demit, Tawang, Pantai Irama, Jelawat, Melor, Kadok, Bukit Panau, Kemahang, Selising, Limbongan, Semerak, Gaal, Pulai Chondong, Temangan, Kemuning, Kuala Balah, Mengkebang, Guchil, Manek Urai, Dabong, Galas.

Bersatu, on the other hand, was gunning on Kok Lanas, Gual Ipoh, Bukit Bunga, Ayer Lanas, Nenggiri, and Paloh seats.

"In total, out of all the candidates, 51.11% or 23 of them consist of new faces. This is a historic moment in Kelantan (for introducing many first-time candidates).

"All of our candidates come from various backgrounds such as Ulama, technocrats, professionals and women," he said at Dataran Warisan Stadium Sultan Muhammad IV here on Thursday.
