Soldier dies after van crashes into army truck

SEPANG: A soldier died in a road accident here after a van crashed into an army truck following a burst tyre.

In a statement Wednesday (July 26), Sepang OCPD Asst Comm Wan Kamarul Azran Wan said that the accident occurred yesterday at KM42.1 along the Elite Expressway where a van full of barbers collided into the army truck.

"Investigations showed that a driver of a van had lost control of his vehicle after a tyre burst, leading to the vehicle crashing into the army truck that was on the middle lane of the road. The truck then crashed on the opposite road.

"All four passengers and the driver in the van were uninjured whereas the four in the army truck were sent to the hospital for treatment. However, at 8.50pm, one of the soldiers died while receiving treatment at the critical ward," he said.

The vehicles involved have been brought to the Sepang police headquarters for further investigations.

Investigations are ongoing.
