State polls: Allegedly leaked Penang DAP list shows strongmen Phee, Ramasamy dropped, seven new faces

GEORGE TOWN: With hours to go before DAP announces its candidates for the Penang state election, a purportedly leaked list shows seven new faces among the 19 member line-up.

According to the list, both Sungai Puyu and Perai strongman Phee Boon Poh and P. Ramasamy, respectively, have been dropped with Phee's daughter Phee Syn Tze taking his place.

Former Eco World Development Group Bhd deputy CEO Datuk Seri S. Rajoo is the new face in Perai replacing Ramasamy while businessman Kumaran Krishnan replaces Bagan Dalam first-term assemblyman Satees Muniandy.

Chee Yee Keen is the new face in Bagan Jermal, replacing two-term assemblyman Soon Lip Chee.

On the island, Penang Island City Council councillor Connie Tan will be fielded in Seri Delima, which was held by Bukit Bendera MP Syerleena Abdul Rashid with another councillor Wong Yuee Harng being the new face in Pengkalan Kota replacing Daniel Gooi.

Gooi is moving to Padang Lalang, replacing veteran woman leader Chong Eng, who has been dropped.

In Pulau Tikus, first-term assemblyman Chris Lee is making way for former Seberang Perai City Council councillor Joshua Woo, with former Air Itam assemblyman Wong Hon Wai going to Paya Terubong, replacing three-term assemblyman Yeoh Soon Hin.

Incumbents retained are caretaker chief minister Chow Kon Yeow (Padang Kota), Lim Guan Eng (Air Putih), Joseph Ng (Air Itam), Zairil Khir Johari (Tanjung Bunga), Teh Lai Heng (Komtar), Jagdeep Singh Deo (Datok Keramat), Lim Siew Khim (Sungai Pinang), Ong Ah Teong (Batu Lancang), Heng Lee Lee (Berapit) and Hn'ng Mooi Lye (Jawi).
