Salahuddin Ayub laid to rest in Pontian


PONTIAN: The remains of Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub were laid to rest at the Jalan Sulong Muslim cemetery at Kampung Serkat here.

The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister's body was buried at 12.05pm.

Earlier, over a thousand people attended the funeral prayers performed at the Masjid Jamek Dato' Haji Noh Gadot

This included family members, friends, political and government leaders as well as the public.

Among those who were at the cemetery were Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli, Communication and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil, Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek and Deputy Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Senator Fuziah Salleh.

Salahuddin, 61, who was the Parti Amanah Negara Deputy president, passed away at 9.23pm on Sunday (July 23) at Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah, Alor Setar.

He leaves behind his wife, Datin Seri Fatimah Taha, six children and 11 grandchildren.
