Large crowd gathers for Konsert Rakyat in conjunction with Sarawak's Independence anniversary

KUCHING: Over 30,000 people gathered for the Konsert Rakyat celebrating Sarawak's 60th year of independence at Padang Merdeka here on Saturday (July 22) night.

The four-hour concert, which started at 8 pm, featured popular local artistes like Floor 88, Dolla, Joe Flizzow and Datuk Awie as well as Indonesian rock band Ungu.

The crowd, who came from all walks of life, was thrilled with a spectacular fireworks display during the concert.

Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Office (Corporate Affairs and Sarawak Public Communication Unit) Datuk Abdullah Saidol said Sarawak had the potential to organise more such concerts and invite foreign artistes in the future. - Bernama
