Climate change migration crisis: eight areas to focus on


KUALA LUMPUR: Some 1.2 billion people could be displaced by 2050 due to natural disasters, says global think tank the Institute for Economics and Peace.

During a recent seminar at Universiti Malaya on climate migration, Chief of Mission of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) Kendra Rinas said that South-East Asia is globally considered one of the most vulnerable regions. Thus, more migrants would come to Malaysia seeking refuge from the effects of climate change, she said.
