Boy missing after falling into river in Tuaran

KOTA KINABALU: A 13-year-old boy has gone missing after he slipped from a bridge and fell into a river in Tuaran, near here.

The boy identified as Mohd Hisham Iskandar Azli was with five friends on the suspension bridge, prior to the afternoon incident in Kg Telibung on Saturday (July 8).

Tuaran Fire Station chief Mohd Abd Qawie Abdul Gapar said they received a call about the incident at 2.38pm and a team was sent to the scene.

“So far, we have yet to find the boy and a search is being conducted, starting from the riverbank area,” he said in a statement.

He said they will request the assistance from the K9 (canine) unit to be part of the search operations.

It is unclear how the boy could have slipped and fallen into the river, and the investigation is ongoing.
