GEORGE TOWN: Wedding bells once silenced by the Covid-19 pandemic are busily ringing again this year.
Wedding planner and florist Bryan Chew said he has his hands full as business is back to pre-pandemic levels since the Federal Government lifted most restrictions.
“We are back in business. Many people have booked my services until the end of the year,” he said.
Chew, who has been in the business for 18 years, said wedding bookings mostly came from those who had cancelled their plans during the various phases of the movement control order (MCO).
Wedding videographer Low Chin Siang said many of his clients have snapped up popular dates for their big day and business has generally improved compared to the early part of the pandemic.
He said couples should consider holding wedding events during off-peak hours, such as in the morning or afternoon, to avoid venue issues.
For Malay wedding caterers, business has improved greatly this year.
Many Malay couples who missed holding their wedding receptions during the MCO have been eager to do so this year.
Caterer Zulkifli Yasin said business has returned to normal, and in fact has increased by about 60% so far.
