‘Pakatan, BN committed to working well together’


PUTRAJAYA: Pakatan Harapan is confident of Barisan Nasional’s commitment to working together in the upcoming six state elections, says Anthony Loke.

The DAP secretary-general said any opposing views about the Pakatan-Barisan cooperation are regarded as personal opinions.

“We have heard the Barisan chairman expressing the coalition’s assurance.

“It is his commitment which we accept and will hold on to. Other views are not considered the official views of Barisan,” he told reporters after opening the Malaysian Driving Institutes’ Association yesterday.

Loke was responding to a report claiming MCA wanted to boycott the state elections.

Barisan chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had said any statements by Barisan component party officials about boycotting the state polls are personal remarks that do not reflect or affect the coalition’s stand.

The upcoming polls will be the first time that long-time rivals Pakatan and Barisan will work together in an election.

The state polls in Selangor, Penang, Negri Sembilan, Terengganu, Kelantan and Kedah are expected to be held in August.
