JOHOR BARU: The owner of the special “FF1” number plate has been revealed. It is none other than the Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar.

The information was revealed on His Majesty's official Facebook page on Sunday (June 11).

His Majesty had earlier granted an audience to Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook who handed over the “FF1” number plate.

The Johor Sultan, who is an avid collector of exotic, classic and highly collectable automobiles, is no stranger to paying for unique licence plates.

In July 2016, the Ruler bought the "F1" number plate for RM836,660 before splashing another RM990,000 for the "V1" plate just a month later.

Last month, Loke said that the special “FF” number plate series has raked in more than RM34mil in revenue.

This was the highest revenue generated since the JPJeBid system was opened to the public on April 15, 2019, he added.

The “FF8” number plate had the highest bid at RM950,000, with “FF9” coming in second at RM911,999.

The “FF3” and “FF2” number plates came in third and fourth with bids up to RM639,000 and RM638,000, respectively.

“There was an incredible response to this series, with up to 34,032 bidders,” said Loke.

He added that 8,348 bids had also been placed over five days for the 9,999 running numbers that are up for grabs.

The “FF” number plate series was launched to mark the 77th anniversary of the Road Transport Department.
