Dad killed in Labuan car crash

KOTA KINABALU: A man was killed while his two young daughters escaped with light injuries after the car they were travelling in crashed and landed on its side in Labuan.

Abd Rashid Bahari, 48, died on the spot in the accident at Jalan Mohd Salleh, near Layangan Sunset Cafe in Taman Damai at 8.30pm on Friday.

Labuan OCPD Supt Ahmad Jawila said the car crashed when the driver lost control of the vehicle.

“The impact left the man trapped in the driver’s seat,” he said yesterday.

“The two passengers, the victim’s daughters aged eight and 10, were only slightly hurt,” he added.

The body has been sent to hospital for an autopsy and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving.
