BANDAR PERMAISURI: His right arm was crippled in a road accident eight years ago but this has not stopped Muhd Syafiq Meli from producing quality photography.

The 24-year-old from Kampung Telaga Papan, in Kerteh, Terengganu, has never allowed his spirits to be dampened and is determined to prove he can be as good as any other in his chosen field.

Muhd Syafiq said a road accident in 2015 caused a critical nerve injury in his right arm, which led to his disability.

Left with no choice, his first reaction was to stop taking photographs, but unwavering support from his family strengthened his resolve not to give up

.“At first, I was really shattered because I couldn’t use my right arm. Everything was hard to do.“But constant encouragement from my family, coupled with my love for photography raised my spirits and I just carried on,” he told Bernama.

As a result of his perseverance and determination, photography has now become his main source of income, aside from creating content for a restaurant’s social media account.

“People could not believe that the videos and photos were taken by a disabled person using just one hand as the results are comparable to those taken by professionals,” he said.

Muhd Syafiq said he is still improving his photography skills and pursuing his dream of becoming a professional photographer, adding he wants to create social media content that inspires people to pursue their dreams.
