KOTA TINGGI: A senior citizen was killed after she and her son were involved in an accident at Jalan Sri Perani-Long Heng here on Saturday (May 27).
Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Hussin Zamora said police were informed about the incident at about 7.15pm on Saturday.
"The accident was believed to have happened when the 29-year-old driver lost control of the car and skidded to the side of the road before falling into a drain.
"A 64-year-old passenger in the car, who was the driver's mother, suffered serious injuries and died at the scene," he said in a statement here Sunday (May 28).
He added that the driver suffered minor injuries to his elbow and that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
"We urge the public to be careful when on the road and to always adhere to all regulations that have been put in place," he said.
