THE Malaysia Hindu Sangam (MHS) has slammed as highly inappropriate videos showing youngsters dancing half-naked at a temple and devotees feeding cake to the deities, Malaysia Nanban reported.

MHS president T. Ganesan said the videos came to their attention after circulating on social media.

In the recordings, a group of youngsters is seen entering a temple, taking off their shirts and dancing around while prayer ceremonies are going on.

“The ceremonies carried out in temples are full of meaning, etiquette and decorum. While exuberant celebrations are part of some festivals, they must be at the right time and place,” he said.

Dancing wildly and inappropriately, and then proudly uploading the videos, was embarrassing to the community, Ganesan said.

He also said it was unacceptable for devotees to climb temple pedestals and pretend to feed cake to the deities during Mothers Day.
