PETALING JAYA: Online dental appointments at the Health Ministry’s primary healthcare facilities are now available via MySejahtera, says Health director-general Datuk Dr Muhammad Radzi Abu Hassan.
This would improve delivery of service and access to dental clinics while the walk-in option would be maintained, he added.
“Through this initiative, the public can book their dental check-ups and plan their visits to dental facilities,” he said in a statement.
Effective yesterday, the expansion of the new MySejahtera Appointment System will offer appointments for outpatient dental services.
The ministry will also introduce an automated reminder function in MySejahtera.
“The public will get a notification to be present at the date and time of their appointment,” said Dr Muhammad Radzi.
He said patients would be screened, get consultation and dental treatment on the first appointment.
“Should a follow-up be required, an appointment will be arranged,” he added.
However, for emergencies such as toothaches or injuries to face or teeth tissue, the public can go to the nearest dental clinic for medical attention without an appointment.
Dr Muhammad Radzi said the National Health and Morbidity Survey 2019 found that 15% of Malaysians had never gone through a dental screening by a dentist throughout their lifetime, while 50% had not had their teeth checked for more than two years.
