Car painter electrocuted near workshop in Inanam

KOTA KINABALU: An automotive painter was electrocuted while taking a break from work near a workshop in Inanam near here.

In the incident at Kampung Sinulihan at 5.20am on Sunday (May 14), the victim, Muhammad Nur Karim, 41, had apparently come in contact with a steel pole that is believed to have been electrified.

Kota Kinabalu deputy OCPD Supt Kalsom Idris said a colleague told police that the victim had walked out from the workshop for a break when he suddenly heard him yell.

"The colleague rushed over to the victim and saw him standing and holding a steel pole behind the workshop," she said when contacted on Monday (May 15).

"The colleague tried to pull the man away but felt an electric shock. The victim then collapsed," she added.

Supt Kalsom said they called for an ambulance but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical team from the Likas Women and Children's Hospital.

She added that investigations were ongoing.
