Well-informed job seekers wanted


KUALA LUMPUR: Those who are seeking new careers should be passionate and knowledgeable about the job positions they are looking for, say recruiting employers.

For Airbus Malaysia general manager Wei Quan Xu, the aircraft company wants team players who are aware of their strengths that can bring benefits to the firm.

What is good for new employees is that Airbus Malaysia also wants to focus on people’s development and career growth.

“We put strong focus on people and their development. How they can grow in the company, strengthen career aspirations and promote well-being,” he said at the myStarjob Fair 2023 here yesterday.

The aircraft manufacturer company, which is also a gold sponsor of the job fair, is offering positions in the field of engineering, supply chains and technical sector.

Another gold sponsor, media and entertainment giant Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd, is also offering a comprehensive package of vacancies.Astro Talent Acquisition AVP Happy Chow said the company was not only looking for those in the management positions, but also in the creative and media industry.

“We’re committed to our culture values, which are be creative, be inclusive and be accountable.

“These are the values people can consider before joining us at Astro. And we also lead by people and we put people as the focus,” she said.

Talent acquisition head Caroline Tay said the company was looking for young talent for its management trainee programme called Astro Young Talents Programme.

The 18-month programme will allow trainees to experience a variety of roles in the media industry.

Melvinder Kaur of Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) invited jobseekers to visit its booth at the fair.

The company is open to hiring positions under the production and operations, distribution and management such as human resources.

“The public should not hesitate from visiting us here as this could be the opportunity to learn more about Air Selangor. Come and meet the recruiters,” she said.

Bursa Malaysia director, group human capital, Azman A. Khalid said the regulatory body was looking for those driven by excellence.

“Attitude is important and the drive (for excellence) is also equally important,” he said.

Leong Hup Philippines assistant finance manager Rico Wong, said the poultry producer had doubled in size and revenue in the Philippines since Covid-19.

It is interested in hiring new employees who can stand out.

“We are offering positions in sales, human resource, finance as well as our operations department.

“Our business is centred on managing poultry farms which provide poultry, eggs and livestock feed for our clients,” he said.

The career fair at Pavilion Bukit Jalil Exhibition Centre continues until today from 11am to 7pm.

More than 30 participating companies from industries and sectors, such as aviation, hospitality and tourism, professional services, finance, food and beverages, portal services, retail, information and communication technology are taking part in the fair.

The other sponsors are Allianz Life Insurance Malaysia Bhd, DXC Technology, Fujitec Singapore Corporation LTD, IJM Corporation Berhad and Japan Foods Holding Limited.
