Several vernacular media reports had said that a "Datuk Seri" was remanded along with eight others at the Magistrate's Court in Ayer Keroh on Wednesday (May 10).

The seven-day remand order was issued by Magistrate Sharda Shienha Mohd Suleiman.

The nine suspects, including a woman, are aged from 25 to 38 years old and were remanded to assist investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

ACP Christopher urged the public not to speculate on the incident as investigations are ongoing.

"We will not compromise on those not who threaten peace and public order.

“Stern action based on the law will be taken against the perpetrators," he said on Wed (May 10).

The suspect, who is married with three children, was with his lover and a bodyguard when the incident occurred at about 4am on Tuesday (May 9).

The deceased had allegedly made a lewd remark to a 26-year-old woman when dining at a stall at Jalan Kenanga of Jalan Tun Perak here at 4am.

ACP Christopher said in the incident, the victim was found unconscious at the scene. He was taken to the Melaka Hospital for treatment by his friends but succumbed to his injuries minutes later.

He said the initial probe found that the deceased and several friends who were drunk after partying came to the stall for some food and drinks, but after they had eaten, the victim and two other men got into a fracas.

ACP Christopher said the deceased had supposedly made a lewd remark about the size of the woman's breasts before being confronted by the bodyguard.

He said the argument then escalated into a fierce fight involving the victim, the woman’s bodyguard and her boyfriend

The post-mortem found the man died due to stab wounds.
