Woman dies from breathing complication after beach activity in Semporna

KOTA KINABALU: A Malaysian guest at an island resort in Semporna passed away after swimming at the beach there on Tuesday (May 2).

Semporna district police chief Superintendent Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah confirmed this following a 38-second clip being circulated on social media earlier during the day.

"The video is of a guest of a resort in Semporna who suffered breathing difficulties while swimming at the beach, and was brought to land at the jetty in an unconscious state.

"The resort divemaster performed resuscitation efforts (CPR) before the victim was sent over to the Semporna district hospital via boat, where she later pronounced dead," said Mohd Farhan, without elaborating further on details as of press time.
