Convict charged with bread murder


MELAKA: A prisoner is now facing a murder charge for allegedly causing the death of an inmate over a piece of bread.

Mohd Fahrur Radzi Chahat, 34, only nodded his head when the charge under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder was read out to him before magistrate Mazana Sinin.

The court was told that the accused had allegedly caused the death of Paidi Atmok Sukar, an Indonesian.

The offence was allegedly committed at Room No: 48, First Floor, Zon A, Blok Cekal Kompleks Penjara Sungai Udang in the Melaka Tengah district at 2.15pm on Feb 17.

The court fixed May 29 as the next mention date.

The two men had allegedly gotten into a fight after the suspect accused the victim of eating his share of the bread ration when he was performing his prayers on Feb 17.

Mohd Fahrur is currently serving a jail term for causing death by negligence.
