Croc caught at Sungai Merah bazaar in Sibu

SIBU: A juvenile crocodile caused some alarm among locals when it sauntered along the Sungai Merah bazaar located on Jalan Igan here.

Photos and videos of the crocodile – which was about two meters long and 30kg in weight– making its way along the road went viral, with many people questioning how the reptile ended up on the busy road.

Sibu Zone 4 Fire and Rescue Station chief Andy Alie said that they were informed of the crocodile at 11.56am on Sunday (March 26).

A team of firefighters was immediately deployed to the scene.

"The reptile was captured using canvas and rope before being tied up and brought back to the Sungai Merah Station to be handed over to the Sarawak Forestry Department," he said.
