Domestic Trade Ministry officers on prowl for profiteers, says Salahuddin

KUALA LUMPUR: Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry officers will be on the prowl at Rahmah Ramadan bazaars to put a stop to any profiteering, says Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub.

The Domestic Trade Minister said that he has deployed officers to all the Rahmah bazaars across the country for this purpose..

"The officers will initially take a lenient approach by advising profiteering vendors to adjust their prices for the first few offences," said Salahuddin

"However if they are repeat offenders, they will be issued fines based on the severity of their profiteering offences," he added.

Salahuddin said this at a press conference after launching another Payung Rahmah promotion campaign here on Thursday (Mar 23).

He added that a mandate has been issued to all vendors at Rahmah bazaars to display product prices in a clear and noticeable way for both officers and visitors to see.

He also advised Rahmah bazaar visitors to report any vendors suspected of profiteering to his ministry.
