Floods: More evacuees return home, number of victims in Batu Pahat drops


JOHOR BARU: The number of flood victims in Batu Pahat has dropped to 10,396 people at 8am on Monday (March 20) from 13,872 people at 8pm on Sunday (March 19).

The State Disaster Management Committee said that a total of 2,977 families are still seeking shelter at 51 temporary relief centres (PPS).

“As of 8am Monday, the number of evacuees in Batu Pahat is 10,396. The PPS with the highest number of victims are SK Seri Aman with 552 people and SJKC Li Chun with 522 people,” it said in a statement here.

Three water level recording stations in Batu Pahat have also reported a declining trend at the river level in the district.

The rivers are Sungai Bekok (19.06m), Sungai Sembrong (11.17 m), and Sungai Senggarang (3.30m).
