New school year begins in Kedah

ALOR SETAR: Excitement filled the air at SK Darulaman Heights in Jitra as pupils returned to schools for the 2023/24 academic year.

Principal Burhanurdin Hasan, said the school had an enrolment of 1,190 pupils ranging from pre-school to Year 6.

Parent-teacher association chairman Mohd Fauzul Abdul Rahman was also at the school on Sunday (March 19).

He noted that there were two pairs of twins in Year 1.

"They were excited to start school. They arrived early and immediately headed to the morning assembly space to join other pupils and be briefed by teachers," he said.

Later, they were led to their respective classrooms by the class teachers.

Meanwhile, Kedah Education Department director Rozaini Ahmad visited SK Taman Uda in Alor Setar.

He said there were a total of 752 schools in Kedah comprising 548 primary and 204 secondary schools.
