KOTA KINABALU: After remaining silent during the last month’s political turmoil in Sabah, Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) has now come out to say that its support had never waned for Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor to stay on as Chief Minister

PBRS president Datuk Arthur Joseph Kurup said the party fully supported Hajiji’s leadership and would give its utmost cooperation in making Sabah’s development agenda under the Federal unity government a success.

“Our support has never changed since the Chief Minister was given the mandate to spearhead the Sabah administration in 2020,” Kurup said in short a statement on Tuesday (Feb 14).

“This stand is (reflective) of the Chief Minister’s excellent leadership particularly in ensuring political stability and unity are preserved in Sabah,” added the Pensiangan MP, who is PBRS’ sole elected representative.

He said the priority of PBRS, a Sabah Barisan Nasional component party, was to make sure the state's development agenda and economic growth continued.

Kurup said the party also wanted efforts to continue towards full delivery of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) for the benefit of Sabahans.

The statement from PBRS came as Hajiji’s position was strengthened after three assemblymen quit Parti Warisan to become independents friendly to the GRS government.

This meant Hajiji, who is also Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (PGRS) president, had the support of 47 assemblymen in the 79-seat state assembly.
