Crowd thrilled by Thaipusam chariot-lion dance procession in KL

PETALING JAYA: The streets of Kuala Lumpur became a cultural melting pot as people were treated to a unique showcase of Malaysian culture with the celebration of two major events – Chap Goh Meh and Thaipusam.

In a short clip uploaded on TikTok, the silver chariot procession is seen accompanied by two lion dances as it proceeds along Ampang Street, in Kuala Lumpur headed to the iconic Batu Caves on Saturday (Feb 4) night.

The massive crowd appears to be delightfully surprised as the blue-themed lions follow the chariot closely. A message about the video is also being spread on WhatsApp saying: "Only in Malaysia. In KL last night, as the Thaipusam chariot made its way to Batu Caves. When passing through Ampang Street, the Chinese joined in with a dragon (sic) dance! Happy Thaipusamgohmeh."
