Cops nab senior citizen seen threatening driver with brick in viral video

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested a senior citizen who was seen threatening a driver with a brick in a viral video.

Following the spread of a video showing the encounter, the police arrested a 63-year-old man on Wednesday (Jan 25) after he came to lodge his own report on the matter at the Sentul police station.

"The suspect is 63 years old and works as a van driver. He also has a criminal record with four previous offences.

"He will be remanded on Jan 26 to facilitate investigations," said Sentul deputy OCPD Supt Heisham Harun.

Investigations showed that the suspect was unhappy after a driver had "raised a hand" in his direction while driving. The suspect had previously used his horn to force the driver to move his car despite a lorry blocking the road.

"The victim left the area and when he reached a traffic light at Jalan Metro Prima, the suspect approached him with a brick and knocked on his window at the side and front before throwing the brick at the car roof," he said.

A video of the encounter had made its rounds on social media earlier this week.
