Rapid to continue trial of Skip Stop Xpress bus service

KUALA LUMPUR: Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd will continue with its trial to obtain more data for its Skip Stop Xpress bus service that aims to provide a direct connection between Ampang LRT and the KLCC/Ampang Park area.

In a statement on Friday (Jan 20), the subsidiary of Prasarana Malaysia Bhd said this ongoing proof of concept exercise will be extended to April 14.

"Passenger reception has been satisfactory, which gave us confidence to extend this trial, with the (one-way) fare remaining at RM1.90," said Muhammad Yazurin Sallij, CEO of Rapid Bus.

He added that the Skip Stop Xpress, with the codename DS01, is part of long-term plans by Rapid Bus to enhance connectivity between Ampang and the city centre.

"The Ampang area is seeing increased population density, and the area needs a good network of public transport so that residents there can get to the city centre easily.

Rapid Bus has formed collaborations with local authorities to overcome problems together.

"We urge more Ampang residents to try out this service to head to the city centre as it is convenient, saves time and cost, other than lowering carbon emissions in Klang Valley," he said.

The DS01 bus runs from Mondays to Fridays, with the morning services operating from 6.30am until 8am, before resuming at 5.30pm until 7.15pm.

Rapid Bus said it will also consider conducting similar trials in other areas. More details can be obtained from myrapid.com.my.
