New Year’s messages from King and Queen, DPMs

KUALA LUMPUR: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah have extended their 2023 New Year’s greetings and offered their prayers for the well-being of the people, as well as peace and harmony for the country.

Their message was uploaded on Istana Negara’s Facebook page.

“May the people throughout the country be blessed with good health, wealth, prosperity and be protected from any type of disaster,” said the King and Queen in the message.

The New Year’s Eve celebration that was initially planned at Dataran Merdeka was called off by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim due to floods in several states and in consideration of issues faced by the people.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi hopes all Malaysians will join together to strive for excellence in 2023.

“Let’s celebrate our successes. We will stand together to face whatever challenges that come our way,” he said in his New Year’s message posted on Facebook.

He also said he would carry out his duty diligently and ensure Malaysia would be more successful under the administration of the unity government.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof called for unity among all races and communities.

The people should find the similarities across different races, religions and political understandings, and hold on to the Rukun Negara and Federal Constitution, he said.
