More to be called in over landslide investigation

HULU SELANGOR: Police are not ruling out the possibility of calling more people over the deadly landslide in Batang Kali after recording statements from three individuals.

The three included the campsite operator of Father’s Organic Farm.

Hulu Selangor OCPD Supt Suffian Abdullah said the three were questioned at the district police headquarters on Saturday.

“The three individuals are the operator in his 50s and two workers in their 20s.

“The police also do not rule out the possibility of calling other individuals to help with the investigation,” he told reporters at the scene yesterday.

Meanwhile, relatives, family members or friends of the victims involved in the tragedy are urged to go to the Sungai Buloh Hospital to help identify the bodies.

Supt Suffian said so far, there were still nine bodies in the hospital pending autopsy to be claimed by the next of kin.

“Our emphasis is on asking the next of kin or friends to go to the Sungai Buloh Hospital for body identification to facilitate claiming.

“A special team is also on hand at the hospital to help with documentation and other matters,” he said, adding that as of Saturday, 15 bodies had been handed over to the next of kin.
