Croc spotted at flooded road

KUANTAN: A large crocodile was spotted at a flooded road at Kampung Seri Damai here on Monday, according to a video which has gone viral on social media.

The 30-second footage, which was shot by a car passenger, shows the large reptile wading through the flooded road.

The video was uploaded by Pulau Manis assemblyman Mohammad Rafiq Khan Ahmad Khan on Facebook.

“I received messages of a video of a crocodile from Sungai Belat in Jalan Air Hitam near Jalan Kuantan-Pekan,” he said.

“The road has been flooded and road users should be careful when passing through this road,” he said.

He also advised road users to avoid the route and use alternative ones.

“Hopefully, nothing untoward would happen,” he added.

At press time, the video had garnered 30 shares and 5,400 views.

Astro Awani quoted Rafiq as saying that this was not the first time such an incident had taken place, as crocodiles had been spotted on the road after a downpour.

The report also said the area was a crocodile habitat.
