PETALING JAYA: Malaysians are flocking to counters dealing with passports at Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur Immigration Department offices on Monday (Dec 12) morning.
Immigration director-general Datuk Seri Khairul Dzaimee Daud said the extraordinary number of people at passport offices in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya was because Immigration offices in Selangor were closed.
"The Immigration Department also advises the public to go offices outside the Klang Valley as it is less crowded for passport application matters.
"Among the nearby and less crowded passport offices are in Seremban, Melaka, Cameron Highlands, Raub, Kuala Langat, Kuala Kubu Bharu, Pengkalan Hulu, Mersing, Kukup and Kangar," he said in a statement on Monday.
He urged those who do not have an urgent need for a passport to postpone their plans.
"The department advises the public not to wait until the last minute and to plan their journey in advance.
